What does the moment matter if we look at ourselves for the first time, the last time or over and over again? The workshop created by Danilo Cardoso and Ching-Mei Huang fascinates with a completely exhausting danced contemplation, which produces intensive pictures with the means of gravity and friction. This movement research is a mixture of floorwork and partnering techniques. In which two or more people move harmoniously on the floor while their bodies remain in complete contact with each other. They are able to roll, twist or stand and immediately glide back to the ground. They never lose each other’s bodies and always remain in a firmly anchored bond. A synchronous dance between bodies, friction and fluidity.

About teachers of the floorwork partnering intensive workshop:

Danilo Cardoso is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Being a child of holistic therapists and artists parents, Danilo began to absorb acknowledgments concerning physical, mental and body awareness since young. During his entire childhood, he was taught principles of Shiatsu, Ayurveda, Yoga, Alexander Technique, theater and dance. Meanwhile, he practised gymnastics from the age of 6 until 10 years old. At the age of 12, he started to practice Breakdance, and later with 13 years old, he received a scholarship at the Deborah Colker Movement Center, where he studied jazz, hip hop and ballet. Still in Brazil Danilo worked as a dancer for five years with the Xstyle Dance Company and three years as a contemporary dancer and hip hop teacher for the Lumini Cia de Danca.

In 2012, he started the Bachelor of Contemporary Dance at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, Germany. Parallel to the studies, Danilo produced his first dance evening in 2014, where he performed short pieces and invited guest artists to perform their own creations. In 2015 he founded Samadhyana Company, and in September 2016 he concluded his studies. In the last four years Danilo worked also with many choreographers, companies and german State theaters, which supported him to maintain external experiences, while building up the company. After working with many choreographers, composers, painters and actors in Germany and working as choreographer and director himself, Danilo developed a peculiar approach to the arts, which is based on several ancient and modern techniques and methodologies that provides an organic, truthful and visceral expression of the body, mind and spirit.

Ching-Mei Huang did the professional dance educations at Taipei Physical Education College in Taiwan and Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, Germany. Next to the studies, she founded an experimental company, M-Studio (時效性⼯工作坊). She has worked with the choreographers and the companies: Cadi Mccarthy, Luísa Saraiva, Ivan Fatjo Chaves, Francesca Zaccaria, Stephanie Miracle, Hakan Sonakalan, Magdalena Oettl, Formosa Ballet Company, Gunter Hampel Music and Dance Improvisation Company. Since 2016, she became the artistic director of Samadhyana Company, as well as teacher, dancer and rehearsal assistant.
