On Saturday, 8 December 2012 at 5 PM, Gainesville Ballet School will proudly present A Children’s Nutcracker at Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Virginia. About 100 students from local public, private and home schools will be among those to dance in the 2012 performance. As a very special outreach project from the arts to children of the community, the dancers from Gainesville Ballet School will also join with local girls and boys for a Nutcracker Tea Party. On Sunday, 18 November at 2 PM, the TeaTime Tea Room will offer finger sandwiches, scones, fruit, and shortbread cookies. TeaTime is located at 7568 Gardner Park Drive in Gainesville, Virginia. Ballerinas dressed in beautiful costumes will pose for pictures with the guests, sign autographs, and share the magic of the performing arts by connecting with the community through a social tea. Tea Party tickets are $15, and can also be purchased online through the ballet school’s web site. Gainesville Ballet School performs A Children’s Nutcracker annually, with 100 dancers in its seventh year of production. On 6 May, Gainesville Ballet School was honored as Outstanding Arts Organization during the 2012 Seefeldt Awards for Arts Excellence. Each year, the Seefeldt Awards recognize individuals and organizations who have contributed to the strength and success of the local arts.
