The Compagnie Humaine celebrated at the Autumn 2007 its fifth birthday. This was the occasion for me to turn back, and have a look at the artistic and organization work made for the company, and also more personaly at my evolution as a choreographer.
"Libre" is born from this statement on my choregraphic work's evolution, after ten creations for the four last years, for the Compagnie Humaine and for other dance companies in France and abroad, which all constitute avenues of research, of experimentations, of confrontations, of collaborations which brought me to question myself, to search, to doubt, to jostle myself, to challenge myself, to finally reach my today state of mind : free. I freed myself from my axiety of creating, from what other people think, from the influences of my past as a dancer, I freed myself from any other constraint than the ones that I will decide to impose to myself.
Based only on movement research (energy circulation, flow, rupture, connection to the oher, contact and counterweight), on the contemporary composer Giya Kancheli's music, on a naked stage, where space of move will be delimited by the light, "Libre" is a pivotal choreographic piece which makes the link between two cycles, between a choregraphic awareness phase and a released & matured phase.
