Former directors:Graeme Murphy and Janet Vernon, two of Australia's most celebrated and admired artists. Current Artistic Director and choreographer is Rafael Bonachela.

Sydney Dance Company has showcased the works of international dance companies and of Australian and international choreographers. Guest choreographers have included Gideon Obarzanek, Ian Spink, Graeme Watson, Paul Mecurio, Don Asker, Louis Falco, Ohad Naharin, Ralph Lemon, Douglas Wright and Stephen Petronio ect. Company organizes yearly choreographic workshops to encourage creativity of the dancers.

The new dancers are Andrew Crawford, formerly of Les Ballets De Monte-Carlo, Tod Sutherland, of Queensland Ballet, Wayne Parsons, a teacher and choreographer who has danced with several troupes in Britain, and Lauren Langois, of the Australian Dance Theatre.
