Sydney Dance Company is Australia's premier contemporary dance company.
Former directors:Graeme Murphy and Janet Vernon, two of Australia's most celebrated and admired artists. Current Artistic Director and choreographer is Rafael Bonachela.
Company tours internationally with great success.
Sydney Dance Company has showcased the works of international dance companies and of Australian and international choreographers. Guest choreographers have included Gideon Obarzanek, Ian Spink, Graeme Watson, Paul Mecurio, Don Asker, Louis Falco, Ohad Naharin, Ralph Lemon, Douglas Wright and Stephen Petronio ect. Company organizes yearly choreographic workshops to encourage creativity of the dancers.

Godani and Bonachela are each creating a new work for the double bill Shared Frequencies. Godani's piece, Raw Models, will be a fierce, ''pissed-off'' work inspired by his memories of the punk scene in the early 1980s. ''It's a protest against authority,'' he says, grinning. ''I'm tired of good manners and I'm sick of pampering. I want to kick everybody in the arse!

Bonachela hires four new dancers

The new dancers are Andrew Crawford, formerly of Les Ballets De Monte-Carlo, Tod Sutherland, of Queensland Ballet, Wayne Parsons, a teacher and choreographer who has danced with several troupes in Britain, and Lauren Langois, of the Australian Dance Theatre.
