Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo (Monte-Carlo Ballet)

Ballet in Monte Carlo has a great history. Under the direction of Serge Diaghilev Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo was a company that reformed the ballet of its time with its legendary dancers,choreographers and collaborated with some of the most famous artists of the day.
In 1985 Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo was reestablished by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover.Directed by Ghislaine Thesmar and Pierre Lacotte.

In 1993 Jean-Christophe Maillot became officially the artistic director and choreographer.
Under his direction the company found its new direction towards performing more contemporary repertory. It includes his works as well as other leading choreographers of today. The company is touring worldwide most of the season only performing about 25 shows yearly in Monte Carlo. The company has worldwide acclaim.
