Rachel Watson

Born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Rachel began her dance training in ballet at the age of four. Eventually becoming more familiar with contemporary dance, jazz, tap, hip hop, African, and pointe she realized at a young age dancing was what she loved to do. She has taught, choreographed on and directed dance praise teams in Raleigh, been involved in outreach with inner city girls, and danced in Times Square, NY and the Triangle Area of North Carolina. She is currently in the process of receiving her BFA in Contemporary Dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC where she has studied with Ethan Steifel, Eric Oberdorff, Zane Booker, Elizabeth Parkinson (musical theatre), Helen Simoneau ,Brenda Daniels, and Mark Dendy to name a few. Dancing with a company, pursuing a musical theatre career, modeling and eventually artistically directing her own dance company are just a few of the things she would like to do after she receives her BFA in May of 2012. Ultimately and most importantly, her goal is to change people’s lives through dance, to give hope, peace, and love to those in need, and to bring a glimmer of hope for those searching.
