Mauricio Vera

Mauricio Vera Ballet Biography.

Mauricio is a Chilean, who started his studies in 2000 at the School of Ballet “Municipal Theater” in Santiago and at the “Musical & Show dance Academy". After 5 years, he became a member of the “Ballet de Santiago” from 2005-2011 under the direction of Marcia Haydee and had worked with outstanding choreographers such as: Jon Cranko, Ivan Nagy, George Balanchine, Sir Kenneth MacMillam, André Prokovsky, Ricardo Bustamante, Ronald Hynd, Eduardo Yedro, Luis Ortigoza, Jaime Pinto, Vicente Nebrada, Glen Tetley and many more. In 2006 he travelled to La Habana, Cuba to learn new techniques at the “Ballet National de Cuba” directed by Alicia Alonso. In 2007 he traveled to 12 cities in Germany and Buenos Aires as part of the “Ballet Santiago" tour with “Mother Theresa and the youth of the World” choreographed by Maurice Bèjart, and “Manon” with Julio Bocca and Alesandra Ferry. In 2007 Mauricio received the Gold Medal Award as a choreographer and Ballet dancer and in 2008 the Youngest best New Artist Award, which were received during the “Latin American Dance Competition”. In 2011 he studied in the "School at Step/ Steps on Broadway" with Nancy Bielsky and Leslie Brown, and at the "Broadway Dance Center/Full Voice Challenge" in NYC. In 2012 he joined “Charleston Ballet Theater”.
